The plutocracy finally gets what it’s always wanted from its deal with Donald J. Trump.
Well, Donald Trump’s signature piece of legislation has now become law. Did we really think it would not? The Republican Party has never been more spineless in the nearly ten years that he’s been its leader. Yeah, a few of the bill’s more wildly egregious provisions were removed, some at the behest of the Senate parliamentarian, some in the normal legislative process, but that’s like praising Jeffrey Dahmer for using a napkin and not his shirtsleeve. The bill remains an epic travesty—what Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) called “the most monstrous piece of legislation I've ever voted on in my time in Congress.”
